Poultry Federation of India Delegation Holds High-Level Policy Talks with Haryana Government to Accelerate Poultry Sector Reforms
Poultry Federation of India delegation met Shri Mahipal Dhanda Ji, Hon’ble Education Minister, Government of Haryana, to discuss key policy issues aimed at strengthening the growth, competitiveness and long-term sustainability of Haryana’s poultry sector. The PFI delegation led by Mr. Ranpal Dhanda, President, comprised Mr. Sanjeev Gupta, Vice President – HQ, Mr. Ravinder Sandhu, Secretary, Mr. Ricky Thaper, Joint Secretary, Mr. Rahul Khatri, Treasurer, Mr. Saurabh Gupta, EC Member, Mr. Dilbagh Singh, EC Member, Mr. Baljinder Aghi, Member, Mr. Satish Kalyan, Member, along with Mr. Jagdish and Mr. Rithik, PFI Office Managers.
The Association expresses sincere gratitude to Hon’ble Minister Shri Mahipal Dhanda Ji for his proactive leadership and for facilitating a series of high-level meetings with senior officials of the Government of Haryana in Chandigarh. These interactions reflect the government’s commitment to promoting a progressive and industry-friendly policy environment for one of the state’s most important agribased sectors.
The meeting with Mr. Vinay Pratap Singh, IAS, Commissioner, regarding certain Pollution Control Board guidelines that are not aligned with the operational realities of poultry farming was very encouraging and discussions were highly positive. Later the delegation met Shri Vedpal, Chairman, Market Committee, Haryana. The discussions were highly positive, and we were assured that the concerns of the poultry sector will be addressed through a practical and regulatory approach. Mr Ranpal Dhanda suggests to the Chairman of the Market Committee that the 1% market committee fee levied on maize and bajra arriving from other states should be abolished. Also, the 2% market committee fee levied on eggs and cull layer birds should be abolished. This decision will play a significant role in reducing production costs for poultry farmers in Haryana, enhancing their competitiveness, and promoting the sustainable development of the state’s poultry sector as well as employment generation. PFI is fully confident that the Chairman and the Market Committee will give sympathetic consideration to this farmer-friendly matter. The discussions centred on improving the ease of doing business for poultry farmers, promoting regulatory reforms, reducing procedural bottlenecks and creating an enabling ecosystem that encourages investment, employment generation and sustainable growth across the poultry value chain.
The Poultry Federation of India sincerely appreciates the constructive approach and positive response extended by the Hon’ble Minister and senior Government officials to the recommendations submitted by the Federation. Such collaborative engagement between the Government and industry is essential for unlocking the full potential of the poultry sector, enhancing farmer prosperity, strengthening rural livelihoods and ensuring affordable, high-quality protein for millions of Indian consumers.
