IB Group, one of India’s leading integrated poultry companies, has outlined a long-term vision to help Jammu & Kashmir become self-reliant in poultry production. The company aims to strengthen local production through modern technology, quality input, organized broiler integration and continuous technical support for farmers.

Speaking during the Srinagar Poultry Conclave, organized by ABIS Foods and Proteins Pvt. Ltd., on August 03, 2026, at SKICC, Srinagar, IB Group Managing Director Mr. Bahadur Ali said Jammu & Kashmir is a major market for chicken and other non-vegetarian food. However, local poultry production remains far below consumption levels, and nearly 60 to 70 per cent of the region’s chicken requirement is met through supplies from other states.

According to Mr Bahadur Ali, poultry farming in many parts of Kashmir remains traditional and unorganised, which affects productivity, bird performance and farmer profitability. Mr Ali said IB Group is well positioned to help address these gaps because of its pan-India experience and integrated infrastructure. The company has its own feed plants, hatcheries, technical service network and a strong forward and backward integration model. Through organised broiler integration, IB Group provides farmers with quality chicks, balanced feed, veterinary and technical support, scientific farm-management practices and market linkage.

He said higher local production would reduce dependence on other states, improve farmers’ incomes, generate employment for local youth, and strengthen the rural economy. The company also plans to work with leading banks to support eligible farmers in accessing finance for modern poultry infrastructure. Mr. Ali further said IB Group would look forward to collaborating with the Jammu & Kashmir administration and other stakeholders to help develop progressive, farmer-centric policies that encourage modern poultry farming, improve productivity, and support long-term profitability.

The Srinagar Poultry Conclave was attended by more than 200 poultry farmers from different parts of Jammu & Kashmir. The day-long event included technical sessions on scientific broiler farming, modern production practices, farm management and ways to improve profitability. Poultry farmers who had delivered strong performance were also recognised and felicitated. Concluding his interaction, Ali said, “Our objective is not to see Jammu & Kashmir remain only a large poultry-consuming market. We want to work with farmers, banks and the government to help it emerge as a modern, organised and self-reliant poultry-producing region.”
