IPEMA Poultry India Advocates Stronger Protection for Indian Poultry Equipment Manufacturers at CII Roundtable on Poultry and Animal Feed
New Delhi, June 19, 2026: IPEMA–Poultry India actively participated in the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) roundtable on “Poultry and Animal Feed: Ensuring Feed Security and Sustainable Growth of India’s Poultry Sector” held at the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi.
Representing IPEMA–Poultry India, Mr. Uday Singh Bayas, President, IPEMA–Poultry India, joined leading industry stakeholders, policymakers, researchers, nutrition experts, and representatives from across the poultry value chain to deliberate on strategies for strengthening India’s poultry sector and advancing the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
A key highlight of the event was the release of the CII Study Paper, “Unlocking the Potential of India’s Poultry Sector for Viksit Bharat 2047,” by Chief Guest Dr. Naveena B. Maheshwarappa, Animal Husbandry Commissioner, along with industry leaders including Mr. Uday Singh Bayas, Mr. Suresh Chitturi, Dr. Harshakumar Shetty, and Dr. Ravindra Kumar Jaiswal.
During the roundtable, Mr. Uday Singh Bayas, President of IPEMA-Poultry India, strongly emphasized the urgent need for the Government of India to impose a ban or levy additional import duties on poultry-keeping machinery being dumped into India from China. He highlighted that such imports adversely impact Indian MSME manufacturers and poultry farmers who often end up purchasing low-quality equipment with poor durability and performance.
His intervention received strong support from industry participants, and he requested the CII to make appropriate representations to the Government of India. Responding to the concerns raised, Dr. Naveena B. Maheshwarappa assured IPEMA–Poultry India of the necessary support.
The roundtable highlighted the importance of India’s poultry sector, valued at approximately ₹2.7 lakh crore annually and supporting nearly 6 million livelihoods. Discussions emphasized collaborative efforts between government and industry to build a resilient, sustainable, and globally competitive poultry sector contributing to Viksit Bharat 2047.
IPEMA–Poultry India expressed its appreciation to Ms. A. V. Rajamany, Director, CII Food and Agriculture Centre of Excellence, and the CII team for organising the insightful roundtable and facilitating meaningful dialogue among stakeholders.
